Exiting opportunity for ambitious and energetic Interior Designer to join growing Design & Construct Office Fitout Company based in Sydney CBD corporate office. Must be able to quickly help prospective clients visualise their new or refurbished office space, show them how you can professionally design it for them, and also supply all fixtures and fittings as part of our complete office fitout service. Would suit experienced person who has a flair for design, but also understands simple construction methods, and has the analytical skills to estimate and create budgets for our clients. Must be experienced in sales and winning fee proposals from new clients, for design and documentation services.

ABOUT DY CONSTRUCTIONS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD.

We are a small team of Interior designers and project managers based in Sydney CBD.

We supply Design and Construct Office Fitouts to commercial clients in Business Parks and CBD Areas, throughout greater sydney.

As part of the comprehensive fitout services that we offer our clients, we also provide all the interior design and architectural services that may be required, such as, test fit layouts, space planning, concept interior layouts, 3D rendering and walkthroughs, detailed drawings, documentation incl schedules of finishes, and council approval.

As most of our clients require a fast delivery for their fitout works, we only specify finishes, materials and products that we know are in stock and readily available from suppliers. This means that our designers need to be up to date with the availability of all specified finishes, as we take full responsibility for delivering the project on time to suit our clients schedule.

We have many clients throughout Sydney who need ongoing Office Refurbishments and New Office Fitouts, and we need a Fitout specialist who can design their Fitout, but also help our project manager give them an accurate budget proposal for the building works.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE REQ FOR THE ROLE

  • You will be experienced in handling new enquires that we get from our website. These are from Sydney companies, who require office Fitout services, you will visit their office, and then giving them a detailed fee proposal for the design of their refurbishment or fit-out.
  • Expert in space planning, and latest workstation & office partition layouts.
  • Experienced in taking detailed measurements on site, sketching the existing layout, then coming back to the office and creating new concept layout plans.
  • Experienced in winning design fee proposals and purchase orders from commercial clients.
  • Must be an expert in organising CDC Approvals through Private Certifiers.
  • Also experienced in managing DA Applications, involving consultants such as town planners and access consultants.
  • Experienced in negotiations with Corporate Clients, Landlords, Building Managers, Suppliers and Subcontractors.
  • Must be expert at documenting Fitouts to comply with the buildings Tenancy Fitout Guidlines, and then co-ordinating with the nominated mechanical, fire protection and hydraulic engineering consultants for the building.
  • Understand the different design standards that clients require in A Grade, B Grade, and C Grade office buildings.
  • Used to working in a busy environment, and multitasking to offer great customer service to our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND

  • At least 2 years previous experience with an Office Fitout Company.
  • interior design qualifications, either degree or diploma.
  • You will need to supply at least 2 references from the fit-out companies you have previously worked for.
  • Ability to work unsupervised. Initially, this is a design role, with the opportunity to progress to a project management-based role, and later to a Senior Management role.
  • Can be either salary package, or self-employed role on own ABN.
  • Ideally you will have your own car, mobile, laptop with own Cad software, white card, Australian Residency, and have previous experience with an office Fitout company.
  • This is a full-time role, but consideration is also given to an experienced person, who wants to work on a part-time basis of three to four days per week.
  • Calm, composed and professional demeanour, to suit the corporate Environment.
  • Must be well-spoken, immaculately presented, and love talking to managers in our clients commercial companies.
  • Excellent pay rates commensurate with experience, and all expenses paid such as petrol, tolls, parking, mobile, laptop and cad software fees also paid.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for winning new design fee proposals.
  • Including measuring up on-site, drafting office floor plans, preparing finishes schedules, mood boards and other details for the design presentation.
  • Responsible for client negotiations to win the design fee proposal.
  • Helping our project manager estimate the Fitout works proposal.
  • Then helping our project manager to win the purchase order for the Fitout and Building works.

TYPICAL DAILY & WEEKLY DUTIES FOR INTERIOR DESIGNER

This role has lots of variety, the below list is a guide only to the typical daily and weekly duties for this role, other duties may be required as directed by the managing director, or our project manager.

  • Travel to visit clients at their office.
  • Sketch the existing office layout
  • Take all detailed measurements on site.
  • Draw existing layout plans.
  • Draw New Test fit layouts or concept plans
  • Create digital design presentations,including 3D Images of Office Fit Outs, Office Interior 3D Walkthroughs, digital colour boards, to help win the design fee.
  • Submit design fee proposals at clients office, together with our project manager.
  • Preparing all necessary documentation once you get the clients purchase order for the design.
  • Draw workstation & furniture plans.
  • Draw SCP ceiling plans.
  • Draw floor finishes plans.
  • Draw joinery elevations & sections.
  • Create moodboards.
  • Create schedules of finishes for project.
  • Adjust our specifications templates to suit the project.
  • Assist Project Manager with estimating the Fitout works proposal .
  • Do Documentation for submissions to private Certifiers.
  • Liasing with Building Managers re Tenancy Fitout Manuals etc.
  • Attend weekly team meetings
  • Regularly study and stay up to date with all sections of the
  • DY Constructions Australia Training & Operations Manual, and other company systems and procedures.

CAREER PROGRESSION WITHIN DY CONSTRUCTIONS AUSTRALIA. 

Option to progress later to a more senior role within the company involving estimating and project management.

It may be an added advantage if you have contacts with managers in large corporates or commercial companies, who often need fit-out or refurbishment works done in their offices.

Either interior design, trade, or building diploma background.

You will need to supply at least 2 references from the fit-out companies you have previously worked for.

Consideration is also given to experienced partitioning carpenter/estimator who can sketch up the works, then give to our in-house cad designer to do the design.

Ability to work unsupervised. Initially, this is a design, estimating, and project management-based role, with the opportunity to progress later to a Senior Management role.

This is a contract/self-employed role, so must have own ABN, car, mobile and laptop/iPad, white card, first aid certificate, have Australian Residency, and have previous experience with an office Fitout company.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for winning new Fitout and Refurbishment projects, incl. sketch design and estimating of proposals, so that DYCA successfully wins the project.

including measuring up on-site, drafting office floor plans, prepares finishes schedules, mood boards and other details for the project.

Also handles the estimating for the project including sending Invites to Tender to subcontractors and suppliers, and doing detailed costings of all trades and writing of client proposals.

The project manager is responsible for all client negotiations to win the project, and all site management, including negotiations with subbies and suppliers, sending purchase orders to subbies and suppliers.

Experienced in writing construction programs, processing variations, doing cost control and quality control, to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high level of quality.

We are currently looking for an experienced office partitioning trades person to join our growing team.
The role requires expert knowledge of office partitions and all aspects relating to commercial office fit-outs including:

  • Self-employed Partitioning Carpenter fully experienced in all types of office partitioning, including full height glass partitions, aluminium framed glass doors, plasterboard partitions, half glass partitions, mortise locks, door closers, aluminium skirting, suspended ceilings, plasterboard ceiling, plasterboard bulkheads
  • Must have own power tools including drop saw, power drills, circular saw, Hilti gun, electric planer, router, and vacuum cleaner.
  • Regular small to medium office partitioning jobs throughout Sydney
  • Must like doing small jobs by yourself and travelling all over the Sydney metropolitan area to various sites.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised.
  • Must be able to read construction drawings.
  • Must have own van/ Ute, ABN, insurances, white card

THE OFFICE PARTITION CARPENTRY ROLE:

  • Manage the full office partition installation process from receiving the materials on-site to QA’s on completion.
  • Our customers are office tenants, who require office Fitout or refurbishment work to be done in their office.
  • Work both independently & as part of our small Fitout team.
  • Liaise with our Project Manager – Progress updates daily.
  • Liaise with Building Managers & clients during the installation process.

REQUIRED CARPENTERS SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experienced in all types of office partitions.
  • Full height glass partitions,
  • Aluminium framed glass doors,
  • Plasterboard partitions
  • Half Glass Partitions,
  • Mortise locks, door closers, aluminium skirting,
  • Experienced in hanging full Height MDF doors.
  • Experienced in fixing raven seals on doors for sound rating.
  • Experienced in installing laminated glass partitions.
  • Experienced in relocating aluminium-framed workstations.
  • Min. 2 years office partition site installation experience.
  • Commercial office Fitout project experience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and unsupervised on site.
  • Ability to read & interpret office partition layout plans.
  • Ability to work within time frames to suit the client.
  • Excellent attention to detail & communication skills.
  • Own tools & Transport essential.
  • Australian resident or  relevant working visa

After a qualifying period, promotion may be available to foreman carpenter, supervising all aspects of office partitioning projects, including deliveries, ordering materials, quality control, and work health and safety implementation.

We are an expanding fit-out company and looking for a carpenter that would like to grow with us. Future position growth is on offer for the right carpenter to work their way up within our company.
