Design of Church Refurbs

Church interior  refurbishments can involve a variety of design changes, including updates to lighting, flooring, colour schemes, and seating, as well as some structural repairs and the addition of contemporary technology. Often the aim of a church refurbishment is to create a space that is safe, healthy, and functional, while also preserving the building’s original  character. Our interior designers and project managers will follow your ideas and requirements in the design, and will liaise with you on all appropriate details.

Items to consider for your church refurb can include:

  • The latest church interior designs, focus on simplicity, and neutral or pastel colors to create peacefull worship spaces.
  • New LED lighting panels can be added to the interior of the church, and LED Walls  provide vibrant visuals, high-definition images, and adaptability for many uses, from sermon illustrations to live streaming events within the church.
  • New flooring options include carpet, tiles, vinyl, stained concrete, or rugs, or it may be possible for the the existing floorcoverings to be refurbished.
  • The existing church seating can be updated with new seating or refurbished seats. Including the latest ergonomic designs and accessibility features in church pew refurbishing, will ensure comfort for all church attendants, including people with disabilities.
  • Sustainability, such as using energy-efficient lighting, materials like reclaimed wood and low-VOC finishes, can all promote healthier indoor air quality.
  • Modern churches often create versatile spaces with flexible seating arrangements, also using portable room dividers, that can be easily reconfigured for different church events.
  • Existing restrooms in the church can be upgraded with new paint colours, tapware, basins, benchtops, lighting fixtures, mirrors, toilet partitions, toilet seats, stall doors, wall and floor tiles, soap dispensers and paper towel holders to refresh the overall look and feel of the restroom.
  • Structural repairs in churches can often include masonry, brickwork or concrete repairs, and roof repairs/upgrades.
  • Modern church designs integrate technology seamlessly, with features like built-in speakers, mobile phone charging ports, and connectivity for hearing aids to enhance the user experience.
  • We can  Design Your Refurbishment to Be Done in Stages:  Many church refurbishment projects are undertaken while the building is occupied, and the works are done in stages so that the occupants of the building are not inconvenienced.

Refurbs done in stages while your Church Is Operational

At DY Constructions Australia, we often refurbish churches that are operational during the works. Our fit out  team is experienced in refurbishing and renovating occupied churches. We are live environment specialists and have successfully completed many projects in occupied premises. Our project managers work closely with you to understand your requirements  during the fit out  phase of the works, including:

  • We plan ahead to minimise any disruption caused by the construction works, such as dust and noise.
  • Our project manager maintains daily communication with your contact person, during the works.
  • Before works start, we have a meeting with you  to discuss how the church can remain operational  as normal during the renovations.
  • If appropriate we can meet with your IT manager/specialist to discuss how to coordinate the works that may involve IT.
  • Our project manager makes sure that air conditioning, fire protection, and electrical, are working as normal during the works.
  • Our tradespeople do daily cleaning of all parts of the project, including passageways, entry areas, and amenities.
  • All of our workers are experienced in working in live environments, and are always well mannered, courteous, and respectful to our clients.
  • If required for larger projects, we can install sound-reducing temporary hoardings, between the works area and the operational church space.
  • If required the noisy and dusty construction works can be done outside of normal church hours.
  • We then prepare a fit out program for the works, showing all the important dates.
  • If your church refurb project is large, we usually perform the work in two or more stages so that your church can continue to be operational during the works.
  • For major church refurbishment projects, if required, we can install floor-to-ceiling temporary hoarding to separate the construction zone from the occupied section of the church, comprising steel studs lined on the occupied church side with plasterboard. We Include a pass-through temporary door, with latch function door hardware, to comply with emergency exit regulations. We will remove the hoarding on completion.
